American Legion Post 39
It's because we do the right things, at the right times, for the right reasons...The American Legion Post 39 in North St. Paul, Minnesota, is open for the general public to come into and have fun and enjoy the food and drinks offered, as well as games and entertainment. Some people might think that a person has to be a member of the Legion in order to go into the Legion, and this may have been the case in the past, but today, everyone is invited to come into the Legion and enjoy themselves.
Free Bar Texas Hold'em Poker Tournaments
At American Legion In North St. Paul, Minnesota
Update September 24, 2011: Poker returns to the Legion on Thursday, October 6, 2011. Brought to you this time by Chris Belflower and The Straight Flush Poker Tour. Poker Games at the Legion are now held every Thursday. The games start at 7:00 pm.
At the American Legion North St. Paul game the prize structure is $50 cash for first place and $30 cash for second place. There is a Consolation Game where 1st Place in that game is $15 cash. The prize structure is found in the copy of the actual FREE TEXAS HOLD'EM TOURNAMENT RULES poster that hangs in the bar. This poster contains valuable information for players, including "BEGINNING CHIP COUNT," color values of the chips, blind changes times and amounts, and other rules that every player should know to play their best game.
The Bar area of the American Legion Post 39 in North St. Paul is large and clean. The bar is long so that even on a busy night, a customer can find a place to order a drink by the bar. Or order from one of the many waitresses working the tables to the left of the bar in the photo at left. In the photo, to the far end and around the corner to the right is a stage where bands perform. To the left at the far end of the photo, you'll find the pull tab booth. To the right of where the photographer taking this picture is standing, you'll find the popcorn machine.
There are plenty of tables for eating and drinking at the American Legion in North St. Paul, as you can see in the photo to the left that shows some of them in the area across from the bar. This is also the area where they play the Texas Hold'em Poker Tournaments on Wednesday evenings and Thursday evenings starting at 7:00 pm.
The Hall at the American Legion in North St. Paul is large, with enough room to accommodate most any kind of event that you need a Hall rental for.
When the American Legion has their dart tournaments, it is on the wall on the far side of the photo that they place the dart boards used in the tournaments.
Hall Rentals:
- Friday - Saturday for $495.
- Sunday - Thursday for $150.
- Funerals for $100.
- $100 Damage Deposit.
- $140 Security (Provided by Post).
- $10/hr. for Bartender.

- 400 high school juniors at Minnesota Boys State government program.
- 1,200 grade schoolers at Legionville School Safety Patrol Training Camp.
- 7,000 veterans provided information on services and benefits.
- $32,000 in grants to disabled Minnesota veterans.
- Over 400 posts provided funeral honors to veterans.
- Over 60,000 hours of volunteer time by Legionnaires at regional VA Medical Centers.
- $70,000 to Legion, Auxiliary and SAL members in need from the American Legion Family Hospital Association.
- Over $38,000 in National Emergency Funds distributed to families in Minnesota.
- Over 1,500 scholarships to high school students in Minnesota.
"The Legion here in North St. Paul in the past has contributed to the purchase of equipment for the local fire department as well as the purchase of a police car for the local police station," said Tom, Bar Manager of American Legion Post 39, when talking with Peter Mansavage recently.
